Jefferson ISD Library

In accordance with Texas Senate Bill 13, all proposed library materials will be posted for a 30-day public review period prior to school board consideration.

Lists will be posted approximately one month before the board meeting, and public comments will close the Monday prior to the meeting to allow time for preparation. All comments received will be included with the materials presented to the board.

Library Information

  • Parents/Guardians – You can now view what books your child has checked out and set restrictions on particular books you don’t want them to access. Your email must be assosiated with your child’s Parent Portal. This is done when you submit your child’s registration. If you have not listed an email in your registration packet, contact your child’s campus PEIM’s clerk:

  • Under Texas Education Code (TEC) §33.027, a parent, district employee, or person residing in a school district may submit a written challenge to any library material in a school’s library catalog. To submit a written challenge, an eligible individual must complete and submit the Library Materials Challenge Form. In accordance with TEC §33.027, an individual completing the form must identify how the challenged library material violates library standards adopted by the Texas State Library and Archive Commission (TSLAC).

    A board of trustees must act on a written challenge at the first open meeting held after the 90th day after receipt of a written challenge.
